VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My main goal for this year is to win state wrestling again. I also want to finish high school with a 4.0 GPA. My other goals are to go to state for track and place, to enjoy my senior year and my last time before college with my siblings, and to go to college. I would like to continue to push myself in the weight room and eat healthier.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
The most fun that I’ve had in the last year was a family trip that my family took to Table Rock Lake. My siblings, cousins, and I got absolutely demolished on the tube. We rented jet skis and zipped around the lake. I threw all of my siblings off of it a few times. We also went cliff jumping. Best family trip EVER. The other thing that comes to mind when I think of the most fun I’ve had this year was a trip that I took with my friends to the Dominican Republic. It was amazing and the best girl’s trip. The beach was beautiful and we played mermaids lol. I am so so thankful for my best friend, Adrian Hazelwood, and her mom, Lacey Brooks, for inviting me on trips like that.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
My favorite teacher that I’ve personally had is Mr. Tim Lambert. Mr. Lambert has taught me how to fortify my mind. My favorite quote to live by from him is, “If it were easy, everyone would do it. It’s not supposed to be easy.” Mr. Lambert brings the energy every day as a weights and wellness coach. He has great morals that I strive to live by. He is strong-willed and motivates all of his students to do better.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My absolute favorite athletic memory was after winning state wrestling last year. I looked mat side and immediately saw my coach, Coach Elliot, with his arms up. I ran over to him and jumped up for the most victorious hug of my life, and I’m very happy that I didn’t break his back. After that, my teammates were waiting for me mat side, so we huddled, talked, and shared tears. The basketball team FaceTimed my friend in the huddle, and they all congratulated me from the school. I ran up to my sister, who won kids state before I won my title, and cried in her arms. My mom gave me the biggest hug. My family and friends were waiting on me in the bleachers. There has been no greater moment in my life than this one. Every ounce of pain that I’ve ever endured paid off.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is Gracie Lambert. She was the most influential athlete that I’ve been around, and we shared time together in cross country, basketball, and track. She was the example of a perfect and exceptional athlete. She had great personal morals, ate healthily, and most importantly, prioritized her relationship with God. She was kind to everyone around her, and she remained humble. Her morals, personality, energy, athleticism, and religion left a great impression
on me. I continue to strive to be like Gracie.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part of being on this team is that it is like having a giant family. I love the hard practices when we all struggle together. We all lift each other up and hold each other accountable. We love to see each other win. We continue to push each other in practice. There is no greater family than this one. I truly believe that I have the best teammates and coaches in the entire state of Kansas.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
I would go to Jamaica with my family, cousins, best friends, and grandma. We would go snorkeling and swim in the ocean. We would also rent a jet ski if we could because my dare-devil grandma loves to ride on jet skis.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
I would buy my sister and I’s online shopping carts and buy my brother some donuts. I would also buy my mom some cutesy clothes. I would get my grandma some cute leopard print Crocs.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I participate in some community service projects that my youth group holds. I also participate in community service day at my school.
