McPherson’s Danica Brunk – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by WSU Tech

VYPE caught up with McPherson Swimmer Danica Brunk to discuss her athletic career.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

Danica shared her three main goals with VYPE. They included winning an individual event at state, making A’s & B’s, and signing with a college.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have ever had?

She told us that her Sophomore year was her best year ever. Saying she shared it with lots of good friends.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

She named her 4th Grade teacher, Mr. Peters. Remembering she was friends with his son and that she always had so much fun around her.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Brunk recalled her sophomore year and winning a state title in the freestyle relay.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

She named Marissa Pearcy. Saying they bounded during their time commuting to practice in Wichita and then swimming together in high school. Brunk said she could always feel the support of this teammate.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

She told us that having her mom as her head coach is her favorite part of being on this team. She loves always being able to talk to her and share problems with her in the moment.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

With $500 hypothetical dollars she says she’d take a trip to the mall and buy some clothes.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

Danica shared that she has volunteered with her church on occasion.
