Q&A with Inman’s Kambrey Woods – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by WSU Tech

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

I would love to make it to state in both volleyball and basketball. I intend to maintain my 4.0 GPA in school. I also hope to receive as many scholarships as possible for college.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

Last year I went to the Kansas State Fair with all my friends after the Haven volleyball tournament. I have always loved the fair and all the big and fast rides. We had so much fun!

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

Although I have had many amazing teachers throughout my education, I would have to say that my favorite teacher is my high school American History and personal finance teacher, Mr. Cearley. He makes learning interesting and fun. He interacts with every student and makes everything relatable to real life. Mr. Cearley cares deeply about each and every student that walks through his door.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Last volleyball season we came back in the substate championship match against Sedgwick and won to punch our ticket to state! That was an amazing experience that I will never forget!

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Chloe Schmidt has left a big impact on me as an athlete, teammate and friend. I admire how she is constantly working to perfect her skills in volleyball and track and she never gives up. She is always encouraging everyone on the volleyball court and pushing all of us to be the best we can be. She is a very level headed player and brings a calming presence to our squad.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

We are all friends on and off the court and get along really well. We have formed a bond that is very special. It makes volleyball so much more enjoyable when you’re playing with your friends!

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

I would love to travel to Italy. It is such a beautiful place and I want to experience the new culture. I would take my family and friends with me so that we could all experience it together!

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

I love Zach Bryan’s music so I would first buy a ticket to one of his concerts. Then I would buy a fun new pair of shoes because I love shoes!

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

I volunteer for the Lions Club community projects and events. Our school also does a community service day that all the students participate in. I have helped coordinate the food drive at my school for the local food bank. As the STUCO president of this school year, I hope to bring new ideas to my student body for community service projects.
