Inman Tuton’s senior Chloe Schmidt is looking forward to this fall season of high school volleyball. “One of the things I’m looking forward to this season are the tournaments.” One specific team Schmidt is looking forward to playing is Sedgwick. “They always come out as a solid team and are some of our toughest competitors throughout the season.”
Schmidt has been preparing for this upcoming season all year long. During the off season, Schmidt attended a K-State volleyball camp. She worked with a personal trainer, and played on a club volleyball team. With all the off season preparations, Schmidt is sure to improve on last year’s stats. Schmidt completed 98 blocks and had 336 kills with a 45 percent kill percentage. Her presence at the net will be felt again for the Tutons this year.
Last year during the state tournament, the Tutons fell short against Winchester-Jefferson County North in the consolation final. Goals for a state return have been set for the Tutons. “This year, as a team, a goal that I have for us and I’m sure that everyone else has is to go to state this year and on top of that, getting 1st. Last year, we were able to get a taste of what it’s like playing the top teams in the state and this year, we will know what it takes to not only get there, but to win as a team.”
Schmidt is also a member of FFA, FCA, and NHS at her high school. During the spring season of track, Schmidt participated in field events and placed 5th at State in the discus. Schmidt is also a member of her youth group at Crosspoint. After graduation, Schmidt has plans to attend Sterling College to play volleyball and pursue her academic career.
