Katie Collins, a catcher, from Little River just finished up her senior year in softball. The team wanted to keep improving throughout the season and this seemed to be the goal and the focus of the players. “Our goal was just to be able to play to our best abilities and be better than the last game.” Collins knew she was part of a team sport, and the team was very important to her. “My personal goal was to just be the best teammate I could be.” Collins knew to be a better team, she had to put the focus away from herself.
As every game approached, Collins looked forward to playing against the competitor. “One game at a time,” was the motto Collins adopted to be the best competitor she could be. This was something she mentioned to Vype Magazine. She was just wanting to perform the best she could.
During the summer months, Collins practiced softball, and this practice continued into the fall season. She worked on her skills as a catcher because this is where she spends most of her time on the softball field. The stats Collins has posted as a catcher was something Collins mentioned to Vype Magazine as something she was most proud of.
Since Collins graduated from high school this last spring, the decision of what to do next is already planned. Collins plans to attend Kansas State University this fall. While at Kansas State, Collins plans to major in human growth and development as well as pre nursing.
