Smoky Valley’s Nate Nyquist – Tennis Spotlight – Presented by Gateway Mortgage

Talking earlier in the season to Nate Nyquist, he shared with Vype Magazine what his goals were for his senior year of tennis. Nyquist had set his goals in the beginning of the season to place high at state individually and as a team, Smoky Valley wanted to win the state tournament.

The tournament every competitive high school athlete looks forward to is state. Not only did Nyquist have his goals set on doing well at state, but this was the event of the season, like most high school athletes, he was most looking forward to. Leading up to the season, Nyquist was readying himself for his last season of high school tennis by practicing and playing tennis.

In the years past, Nyquist shared with Vype Magazine about what position his doubles partner and he played. Previously, they bounced back and forth from the number one doubles spot to the number two doubles spot. This year, this doubles duo played the number one spot all season.

Nyquist is not completely sure of his future plans this fall, but he will most likely be attending the University of Kansas. Other than playing tennis, Nyquist also can be found on the golf course because he enjoys playing golf with his friends.

After the completion of the postseason, Nyquist and his doubles partner, Per Nelson, can be proud of their season finish. Smoky Valley finished third at the state tournament as a team and Nyquist and his partner finished at the state tournament placing 11th.
