McPherson’s Aislyn Soukup – Track Spotlight – Presented by Blustem Pace

Aislyn Soukup is a senior from McPherson high school. To finish off her career as a Bullpup, Soukup is geared up for her final year of track season as a 100-meter hurdler. Preparing for track season, Soukup explained to VYPE Magazine the importance of drills. “Drills are also an important part of hurdles, so I do hurdle work during the offseason at my house, as well as doing drills outside of practice.” Soukup is also a cheerleader and training for cheer has helped to keep her legs strong and ready track season.

Meets coming up Soukup is looking forward to are Salina because the competition is good and it pushes everyone to compete at their best and Regionals. “Regionals will also be tough this year, so that will be a good time to do my best and hopefully reach my goal of a new PR.” The goal of a new PR has been set by Soukup for 15.5 seconds. In addition to the time goal, Soukup would also like to place at the state meet again. Soukup shared how the McPherson girls track team has set goals to win as many meets as possible. “Winning league and regionals would be phenomenal.”

In addition to Soukup’s contribution to the track team, Soukup also is on the cheer team, was a STUCO treasurer, and in Kay’s club at McPherson High School. She is a member of Countryside Covenant Church’s youth group. After Graduation this May, Soukup plans on attending KU and majoring in healthcare administration. She eventually wants to attain her certification in Diagnostic Medical Sonography through KU Med.
