Julia Allen a senior basketball player is finishing her last season as an Eagle for Elyria Christian School. Allen enjoys playing basketball with her teammates and is looking forward to playing with her team and spending time with them. One individual goal she is focusing on this season for herself is to play more aggressively while on offense.
Allen shared her thoughts with VYPE Magazine about last year’s season. “I had 49 steals last season and I’m most proud of that because I’m a post so in the past I was not able to get many steals.” With Allen still being a force on defense and working on becoming more aggressive on offense, Allen will be a challenging opponent for competing teams.
Over the summer, Allen played basketball in a summer league, but her time was split because she also competed in softball during the busy summer months. Elyria’s Eagles have a small team, so every team member matters. “I am looking forward to pushing myself harder than I have in the past because our team is small.”
During the fall Allen plays volleyball for the Eagles and during the spring, she can be found on the softball field. Allen also participates in the musical productions her school performs. After graduation this spring, Allen will be attending Washburn University to attain a degree in forensic chemistry.
Allen, along with The Eagles, will finish up their calendar year of basketball on December 19th against Rural Vista. After the KSHSAA winter moratorium, basketball games will resume for The Eagles on January 5th against Canton-Galva.
