Campus’ Drake McPherson is preparing himself for his senior year in football, but the three sport athlete loves that Campus gives him many different opportunities to play the games he loves with his teammates.
McPherson is ready to take on his last season and help lead Campus to a few playoff games.
“What I’m most excited for this upcoming season is getting to play with my teammates one last time,” McPherson said. “Most of my teammates I have been playing with since third grade junior Colt football. I also want to play a large role this season to help campus football become a solid program.”
The offseason included many camps and showings for McPherson, while also working with his coaches and teammates at Campus.
“Most of my Saturdays I work with Sharp Football Academy Quarterback coaches,” McPherson said. “I started this spring with invites from South Dakota State University and South Dakota University. This summer I have attended a total of nine camps including KU, K-State, Pitt State, Butler Community College, Missouri Southern State, and Emporia to name a few.
A few goals McPherson hopes to accomplish are expanding his leadership role while also growing in his abilities.
“I plan to keep building on my strong leadership skills,” McPherson said. “I also want to achieve first team all state quarterback and earn an invite to the Shrine Bowl. I also hope to receive some offers from colleges that have expressed interest in me over the summer.”
McPherson plans to continue playing football at the next level, but is still undecided, as well as continue the love for the game later in life.
“I plan to play football in college at the next level where I plan to study the business side of sports and coaching,” McPherson said.
