Canton-Galva football player Lane McMannis shared the goals he has for the future in a recent interview with VYPE.
Saying “Our greatest goal as a team is to always perform the best we can and hope we can return to the state championship game in November. Personally, my goal is to know our playbook inside and out, so that I’m prepared to perform at my best in any position I’m needed. I enjoy getting the opportunity to play both offensively and defensively. Our team works hard in the summer on strength and conditioning.”
It has been that hard work that has been among his favorite parts of being a member of the Eagles football team. McMannis told VYPE “My favorite part of any team, but especially football, is the friendship we form as a team. In football, you have to have each other’s backs and depend on each person to get their job done. We work hard as a team, and we succeed as a team.”
Off the football field McMannis’ involvement in his community is admirable. He shared with us “Each spring our school organizes community service projects for the high school. The last two years I have volunteered with a group at the Canton Fire Station cleaning and waxing the fire trucks. I am also a member of the KSHSAA Student Advisory Team. As part of that group, we have done public service announcements about sportsmanship and delivered appreciation gifts to retiring officials.” McMannis is also “a member of the Canton-Galva National Honor Society, the vice president of our student council, and has been president of my class for the past three years.”
