Q&A with Canton-Galva’s Wyatt Collins: Athlete Spotlight – Presented by WSU Tech

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goals for this coming year are to make all-state in football both offensively and defensively and to get recruited to play at the next level.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

Playing ball with the boys is always the highlight of my year. I love sharing important wins on the field with them and making memories with them outside of sports.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

My favorite teacher has to be my weights coach, Mr. O’connor. He pushes me every day to be the best athlete and man I can be, and I wouldn’t be near the guy I am without him.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory would have to be when we played St. Paul during the postseason in football. Hoppes finally let me run the ball, and I’d like to think I made the most of it.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

I’d say the teammate who left the biggest impression on me would be Garrett Maltbie. Garrett is a great leader, and he holds you accountable for your mistakes and isn’t afraid to let you know when you mess up, and that made me a better player overall.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

The guys I am surrounded with, and the positive energy is my favorite part about being on this team. They are extremely good guys, and they are extremely hard workers.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

For my summer vacation, I’d want to go to Florida just so I could experience what it is like there. I would take 2 of my friends (Leyton and Landon) and my parents of course.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

I would probably spend the $500 on some new boots and some nice cinch jeans and t-shirts.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?

I am in FFA because I want to learn about agriculture, and I enjoy learning more about farming and animals.
