Moundridge’s Lane Durst – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Visit Wichita

By: Angela Brunk

Lane Durst from Moundridge is ready to get this fall football season started. “I am looking forward to our first game. I am ready for the season to start.” It is no surprise that Durst is ready for the season to start, he gets the opportunity to play several positions on both defense and offense. For defense, Durst plays cornerback and on offense, he splits his time between running back and split out.

Durst, who is entering his junior year, has aligned himself with his team’s goals as well. “The main goal for me and my team this season is to win our district.” To help his team with this goal, Durst has been working in the offseason to improve his game. “I worked a lot on strength and conditioning this summer. I went to our football summer weights every morning and Coach O’Conner put together a great workout program for us.”

Last year, as a sophomore, Durst was one of the top tacklers for The Wildcats. He also led the team in interceptions. Both of these accomplishments are something for Durst to be proud of, and no doubt, this year, Durst will again be an athletic leader for the team as a junior.

Although undecided at this point on plans after graduation, Durst is enjoying other activities at the high school besides just football. Durst plays basketball during the winter season, and then he plays baseball in the spring. He is also an active member of FFA at the high school.
