Baseball season is upon us and Ty Rains of Moundridge is looking forward to this upcoming season. “I’m looking forward to being able to play with my cousin Logan Greenwalt. We’ve grown up playing together at our houses, but this year will be our first chance to actually play together.”
Rains is a senior this year and is putting a new focus in training for this upcoming season. “This off-season I’ve focused a ton on my nutrition and my workouts to gain more overall strength and explosiveness. My workouts have been very high intensity CrossFit style workouts.”
With all the extra efforts put into training, Rains is ready for big things his senior year. During Rains’ junior season, he tied his career average record, and this is the year he officially wants to take that record. “I have a couple records I could get so I’m focusing on getting the career average, career steals, career on-base percentage, as well as, I’m going for the career steals record for the entire state.”
While not in baseball season, Rains keeps plenty busy. He is involved in FCA, NHS, Tri-M, Choir, the school play, football, and showcase baseball. During the summer months, Rains spends time playing in a local collegiate baseball league. After graduation this spring, Rains plans to travel north to attend college at Central Christian. “I’ve already signed to play baseball at Central Christian in McPherson, and I plan on majoring in elementary education to pursue a career in teach young aged kids.”
