Smoky Valley’s Breanna Peters – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Venable Jewelers

“This is our last season together and we have big hopes to make it to state this year,” Breanna Peters, a senior from Smoky Valley shared with VYPE Magazine. “We have a tough substate, but we have faith that as we grow and learn throughout this season we could be a state tournament contender.” For Peters individually this year is all about her team. “I just want to be able to help my team succeed.”

This year Smoky Valley’s team consists of a large group of seniors who have been playing ball together since they were very young. The league is filled with tough competition this year, but these tough games are something Peters is looking forward to. Hesston, Halstead, and Hillsboro are all teams Peters and her
team will face. The Sterling tournament is among a favorite Peters is looking forward to as well.

Peters is a multisport athlete, so much of her off-season training comes from the cross-training of other sports. The list of sports she participates in includes volleyball, powerlifting, cheer, and track and field. During the summer, Peters played basketball in a summer league and participated in the MEB basketball
camp.

Besides being active in many sports, Peters fills her busy schedule with the KAY Club, National Honor Society, and Pep Club. After graduation in the spring, Peters plans to attend the University of Central Missouri to continue her track and field career. “I am currently undecided in what I will be studying, but I am extremely excited for what is to come at UCM.”
