Smoky Valley’s Samuel Peterson – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

Smoky Valley senior Samuel Peterson is hoping to keep his state streak alive. Peterson shared with VYPE an accolade which he was proud of was running at state three times. “I am proud of making it to state as a team because it was the third time I ran at a state meet.” Hoping for a repeat return, Peterson has set his goal on the state meet not only for him, but also for the team.

Peterson set a personal goal for himself this season and he has set a goal for the Vikings as a team. For his personal goal, he is trying to get his 5k time in the low 17s. The goal set for the team, Peterson told VYPE is wanting to see the team make it to the state meet. With the group of friends Peterson has on the team, it is no surprise this is a goal set by him. One of the things Peterson said he most looks forward to is, “The fun I get to have with my friends during meets and practices.” To reach the goals set, Peterson has been spent time in the off season running and building more muscle by lifting weights.

When not running cross country, Peterson can also be found on basketball court in the winter season. During the spring, Peterson will return to running to finish out his senior year on the track competing in his final athletic season as a Viking. After graduation, Peterson is planning on attending Kansas State University for Mechanical Engineering.
