McPherson heads into 2026 with one of the more experienced rosters in this batch, returning nine offensive starters, 10 defensive starters and 24 total lettermen from last year’s 5-4 team. Jace Pavlovich said the Bullpups are process-driven and believe this group has the pieces for a postseason run, especially if it improves basic alignment and tackling on defense.
Offensively, McPherson brings back a loaded core led by quarterback Carter Bengston, running backs Dane Becker and Brody Milleson, receiver Ashton Malm and multiple experienced linemen and skill players. Bengston threw for 1,900 yards and 17 touchdowns, Malm had 58 catches for 1,134 yards and 13 scores, and Becker plus Milleson combined for 1,247 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
The Bullpups describe their offense as deep with gamebreakers across the board, while Dylan Hall returns as a defensive anchor after at least 55 tackles and two sacks. With Augusta, Great Bend, Buhler, Circle, El Dorado, Mulvane, Tonganoxie and Winfield on the schedule, McPherson should be tested enough to prove whether it is ready to move from solid to dangerous.
